As part of Games Workshops Summer of fun for 2009, they are asking people to make "pledges" to complete certain miniature related task.

(That last one is mine by the way)
So here goes at a Project log of my progress.

Planning day: 18th July
Model checklist
- Captain in Terminator armour and/or Black Reach Captain
- 4x Tactical Squads
- 2x Terminator Squads
- 3x Dreadnoughts

Sunday 19th July
* Black Reach Captain is now packing a Thunder Hammer. * Black Reach Terminator Squads using spares from previous projects. * I now have an Assault Squad (4x Thunder Hammer 1x Lightening Claws) * the other Squad has an Assault Cannon.

Monday July 20th
* The four Tactical Squad Flamers now have flames, thanks to some "Ork hair" * Normal Black Reach dreadnought converted and "pimped up" * Budget for Landspeeder Storms diverted to Vet's bills

Friday July 31st
A little bit behind schedule due to excessive rain this week,
* Two of the three Dreadnoughts have extra "bling" * All 4 Tactical squads undercoated black * All models based * 35 of the 40 Tactical Marines have a base yellow coat of Iyanden Darksun

Saturday August 1st
Good day today,
* Undercoated black the three Dreadnoughts and 10 Terminators * Base yellow coat of Iyanden Darksun on same * Final 5 Tactical Marines also have yellow base coat done * Blackout symbols on Terminators and Dreadnoughts

Sunday August 2nd
Minor crisis time! On the way in to the store today it dawned on me my army is illegal! With 5 Elite choices....what to do?
Arrive on the scene Mr Mike Purvis with the genius solution, have a Master of the Forge and the dreads are heavy choices...yay
So out goes Lysander and in goes a Master of the Forge. I do have both the direct only Techmarine and the new Thunderfire cannon Techmarine, but let see what clever conversion I can create from my bits box....
* Blackout all the weapons and chest eagles * Ogreflesh wash all models, used 1 and half pots * Mixed 50/50 Iyanden Darksun and Sunburst yellow for main highlight colour * First Tactical squad done with yellow mix

Tuesday August 4th
OK so the bits box raid is complete. Using the following list of bits I now have a nice looking Master of the Forge:

* Highlighted 5 more Marines with yellow mix * Highlighted a Dreadnought with yellow mix * Based Master of the Forge with sand ready for black undercoat

* 25 Marines now highlighted with the yellow mix (15 to go) * 5 Terminators highlighted with yellow mix (5 Assault to go) * Second Dreadnought highlighted with yellow mix ( 1 to go) * Master of the Forge has black undercoat * Played first game against Space Wolves

Tuesday 11th August
* 5 Marines highlighted with yellow mix (10 to go) * Assault Terminators highlighted with yellow mix * 2 Sargeant heads done flesh tone * Master of the Forge body base red and yellow shoulderpad done * Chest eagles done Mecrite red on 10 Marines and 5 Terminaters * Played second game as part of a doubles game with Nids vs Marines and Necrons

* All bases have been drybrushed Beastial Brown * All weapons have been given a coat of Codex Gray * All weapons and metalwork has been given a coat of Boltgun metal * Scrollwork, tabards and purity seals have Beastial Brown and Mechrite red started * Faces have Bronzed Flesh and Devlin mud wash applied * Master of the Forge detailing Mechrite red * 10 chest eagles left to do in Mechrite red

Tuesday 18th August
* Purity seals painted Mechrite and Beastial brown * Bolter straps and pouches painted Beatial brown * Played third game against Adams Eldar, a sound thrashing for Adam 13:4 on Kill points, yay
Pre-ordered Space Hulk, yay more marines to paint......but it was so pretty....!

Sunday 23rd August
* First Tactical squad "arrows" blacked out * All grey weapon sections highlighted * Now have all transfers needed * Large fist logo area greyed out on landraider, did I mention I found a landraider in my bits box, lol * Landraider undercaoted Iyanden darksun * Manegtised main Landraider weapon sponsons * Flames on flamers highlighted lightblue * All Terminator shoulderpad detail highlighted * All weapons highlighted Mithril silver * Master of the Forge highlighted * All bases drybrushed a lighter brown plus stones picked out in grey * Played forth game, against Adams Eldar again, but with more cheese, a draw at 4 all on kill points.

* Landraider washed with Gryphon sepia and hightlighted with yellow mix * Large Fist logo completed on landraider * Blacked out weapons and vents on landraider * Added more details to Dreadnoughts, cables etc * Created 4 more objective markers and painted them * Put together TL Heavy Bolter and crew hatches for landraider

Things to do include:
- Possible final "Yellow" highlight to armour
- Static grass on bases
- Matt varnish everything
