Dust Off
A WH40K Scenario by Pete
Delafield
Overview
A vital piece of DNA has been recovered, and
Imperial Scientists are awaiting to use it in order to create a virus
bomb. The bomb will be DNA targeted, so will prove fatal to the alien
race, but leave the planet habitable for colonisation.

The Forces
The Imperials have 500 points to deploy, including
a character to carry the DNA file. This 500 points may not include any
vehicle with transport capability.
It must follow the force organisation: 1HQ, 1-2
Troops, 0-1 Elite, 0-1 Fast Attack. To represent attrition, any unit
will take D3 casualties and any vehicle with more than one weapon will
take a random weapon destroyed result. The character with the DNA file
is immune to instant death.
The Imperials have a further 1000 points to deploy
to guard the Heli Pad. This is a full organisation chart, minus anything
used in the 500 points. It may also include an empty transport vehicle
that can go and rescue the stranded character.
The Aliens have 500 points to block the character.
Use the following force organisation: 0-1 HQ 0-1 HS, 0-1 Elite, 1-2
Troops. No vehicles are allowed.
The Aliens also have a 1500 point army using a full
force organisation chart.
Deployment
The Imperials deploy 1000 points in zone 5.
The Aliens deploy their 500 point force in zone 3.
The Imperials deploy their 500 point force in zone
2.
Who goes first?
The Aliens get 1st turn.
Any non vehicle reinforcements arrive in turn 2
from the alien table edge in zone 1.
Any vehicle reinforcements arrive in turn 3 from
the alien table edge in zone 1.
How long does the game last?
The game continues until the character carrying the
DNA is killed, or spends a full turn on the Heli-pad awaiting pick up.
Play test report: Marines vs Eldar
I found the scenario lots of fun to play, and there
were some really great moments, as the Eldar threw everything into
getting my Captain. The Marines willingly sacrificed their lives to
allow the captain to escape. I’m sure on VPs the Marines would have
lost, but the scenario rules meant that it was a win! The rules meant
strategy had to be employed rather than just shooting the enemy, as the
superior numbers of the aliens would win out.
I’m not sure how balanced the scenario was,
although the Eldar did just miss out a few times trying to kill the
captain.
