Re: To all would be Emperors
A superior force perhaps. But with an inferior general.

Re: To all would be Emperors
Lichtenstein you dolt, make one move on Talabheim and I will
personally make sure it is
the last you make. In the treaty signed between Nordland and Talabecland any attack on the
lands of one province will result in swift, deadly retaliation from it's ally. Now the
armies of Talabecland are commanded by a capable general and a mighty mage an attack on
the city of Talabheim would be suicide. I urge you to accept my inevitable destiny to be
crowned Emperor, relinquish your claim to the throne and throw your support behind me. Your
loyalty will be well rewarded, I assure you.

How can a pretender be..
... taken seriously when they can't remember their own name. "Vadervalk" Has

Re: To all would be Emperors
My spies tell me the incompetent Lictenstien has gone and surrendered to the young
upstart Elector count of Wissenland!
This is not good news as with the Stirland votes he poses a real threat to my claim on the
throne. I propose to meet his challenge head on and already my army marches towards
Wurtbad to show age and experience are what matters when you have an Empire to run.

Re: To all would be Emperors
So once again the Elector count of Middenland falls in battle but escapes. Cut down by
the well commanded troops of Randolf Sparkfire, Fire magelord and loyal
lackey of Nordland.
(Some commentators have rumoured a secret pact existed between Randolf and the Mage in
charge of the Stirland army. Whatever it was Randolf betrayed the gullable wizard and
promptly incinerated him at the end of the battle!)
The Elector count of Wissenland escapes the pursuing Nordland army of Vandervalk taking
poor Lichtenstein with them. What sticky end awaits the hapless count of stirland remains
to be discovered.
Unable to catch his quarry Vandervalk has swung his army around to engage the only elector
count within his grasp before winter sets in and all campaigning must cease, the twice
defeated Boris of Middenland.
Four armies now battle outside the gates of Talabecland. Before Vandervalk can get to
Boris he must first defeat the Stirland army that stands in his way. In the meantime Boris
has once again launched his attack determined to conquer Talabheim. The fool! |

Re: To all would be Emperors
Two armies have already been repulsed from Talabhiem without even the need for siege!
What chance does one alone have?
He will be cut down and shown the error of his ways, just before our executioner makes him
shorter by the length of a head.

Re: To all would be Emperors
So Baron von Lichtenstein is captured and the army of Stirland now leaderless turns to
the colleges of magic for guidance. Oh dear a big mistake. Although they may have access
to great and powerful magics, their skills at commanding an army on the field of battle
are somewhat wanting. Ludo Minge being the only mage known to have any tactical know-how
but also loyal to Vandervalk, count of Nordland!
Before the first shot was fired or the first incantation muttered they result of the
battle was a forgone conclusion. The disaffected, demoralised army of Stirland was in no
fit state to challenge the Nordland force, but for some reason known only to themselves,
the Wizards of Stirland decided to face up to Vandervalk and deny him
passage to his real
goal, the Count of Middenland currently engaged in battle with the defenders of Talabhiem.
Although they rained both magic and missile on the Nordland army, and took a terrible toll
on their numbers, the brave noble and fearless soldiers of Nordland kept advancing.
Eventually they fell onto the warmachines of in an avalanche of destruction. The
artillery
might of Stirland was broken and the Wizards fled for their lives leaving the way clear
for Vandervalks attack on the Middenlanders. With the Nordland army
severely depleted by
the foolish Strilanders it will take all his military skill and know-how to best the Count
of Middenland although the loyal Talabeclanders may well have finished him of before
Vandervalk even arrives at Talabheim.
All the prayers of Nordland go to Ludo and the worthy men of Talabecland. May Mirmydia
guide you on this fateful day! |

Re: To all would be Emperors
We will hold at all costs, rumour has it that foul Ogres have been seen amongst the
numbers of the attackers. Will the foul pretenders stop at nothing to sieze the throne?
Such foul heresy will not go unpunished. We will construct war engines and lay waste to
these foul beasts.

Re: To all would be Emperors
I Kronprinz Wolfgang Holswig-Abenauer, Elector Count of Sudenland, have watched your
squabbles with increasing rage! My agents have been in the field to study your claims and
report back to me, for I am the only true claimant to the throne.
Of your various pitiful claims:-
To "Countess" Dieter, I send the greetings of the physik who treated your
unfortunate condition. Thou art but a pox-ridden harlot, formerly earning your living in
an immoral fashion. The Physik tells me that your delusions are caused by the effect of
both this contagion and of the fumes of heated Cinnabar with which he tried to cure you.
When I am enthroned, I will be merciful with you. Your pitiful carcass will be taken to a
nunnery, where thy condition can be safely treated.
To the impostor Jacques Van Vandervalk. Thy claims are based upon a falsehood told to you
by a wandering buffoon, who came upon you in your usual drunken state. This unemployed
jester, who's nobody's fool, has paid for his merry jape, I send his tongue to you.
Renounce your claim now and will show similar mercy, continue with this farago and your
end will be both long and painful.
To Von Lichstenstein, I send my sincere greetings. Thou claim to the throne is true, and I
would support you but for one reason. You are a blood-brother to me, but only a half
brother on our mutual mother's side. She had a dalliance with a
stable boy, you are the
product of that liaison. Since you are impure of blood, you can therefore not be enthroned,
but join me brother and you can hold my royal standard! For her immorality, our mother is
in the nunnery and you may visit her annually!
Of the others, none has any merit or arms enough to press their claim.
I have been forced to watch this pantomime, whilst I gather my forces. These forces have
now been gathered and are ready to do battle. Who dares face me?

Re: To all would be Emperors
A new entrant into the fray now may complicate things, However do not
despair. The
civil war is now reaching it's climax and I predict the Emperor will be crowned within the
next few weeks. Then we move on to chapter 2 "Empire in flames" where the
enemies of the Empire sense it's weakness and move to strike before the realms of men can
recover from their petty squabbles!
For that we will need players with Empire, O+Gs, VCs, Beastmen, Skaven and Dwarfs.
I shall start a new topic outlining my plans. |

Re: To all would be Emperors
Some changes to the rules for season 2
1. The map is now open so all players can more easily find and attack the enemy of their
choice.
2. The boarder patrol games go. They proved unnecessary IMO.
3. An additional -1 is to be applied to all survival rolls, so you are done for on a 1,2
or 3!
4. There is no capture now! All captured counts will be immediately executed!
5. A vote can be called after each campaign turn provided one or more of the counts has a
guaranteed 6 votes. Elector counts not present at the council meeting will not be
eligible
for a floating vote. |
