The Player Details forms hold details on all the players in your campaign - their position, campaign points, route, race and so on. You must create a player form for each person using the new record button which has the symbol >* and is in the centre of the row of buttons.

The player details form has two screens - one holds the basic player details, and the other holds information on campaign points and points penalties. You access the two screens by clicking on the tabs labeled 'Details' and 'Points'.

There is a row of navigation buttons at the bottom of the form. This is what the buttons do:

These are the navigation buttons. The trash-can (dustbin to the Brits) will delete the current player. It will also re-set any locations formerly owned by the player to neutral status. The other four buttons will move you to the first player, previous player, next player, and last player.
These buttons search for a player, and search for the next player meeting the search criteria. I usually un-check the 'Search only current field' box, and set Match to 'Any part of field'.
Creates a new player.
Opens the Locations Form and shows all (and only) the locations owned by this player.
Restricts the players shown to those who have not entered their turn yet. Press this button to restrict the players shown to those who have yet to come to you to do their next turn. Works by filtering on the 'Tick of players turn is in' check box.
Takes off any filters and shows all the players again. Used to get back to all players if you have searched for just one or filtered on turns not in. Closing and re-opening the players form also shows all players again.
Shows any probes owned by the player. Not used at Gobstyks now, because we have a much simpler way of handling probes.
Shows the fleet card for this player, which is a summary of all information about them and should be exactly the same as the card held by the player. Click here to see an example of a fleet card.
The button on the left saves the current player. Well, it should, but it doesn't. Access will save the current player when you leave close the form or move on to another player. The button with the open door will exit and take you back to the main switchboard.

The Details tab shows an area with the following information:

Type in the player's name. Choose the player's race from the pop-down list offered. The list is drawn from the race types entered at campaign set-up. New race types can be entered at any time.
Enter the total scanners bought during the campaign in the box. If the player currently has a working scanner, set the check-box to a tick by clicking it. You will be reminded to increase the count of scanners, which is important for working out the campaign points that the player has. Similarly, enter the number of probes bought by the player. If there are any entries in the probes table for this player the box on the right will display a count of the porbes. We no longer handle probes like this - see the Notes and comments section for our revised approach.
Set the player's current location by typing it into the box or using the + and - buttons to adjust it. Clicking on the 'Show location' button will open the location form for the location you have set. If the location has defenses this will be shown in the white area, so you know whether a player should be allowed to pass it or not.
Click in the check boxes to show that a player has entered his/her turn for this campaign round, and to indicate the player is a rebel. If the player is part of an alliance choose the alliance from the pop-down list. The alliances must have been entered in the campaign setup form first. In the notes area type anything else you want to remember about the player. We don't use the turn-in feature - we find we can remember anyway.
This is a record of the route taken by a fleet. Its only purpose is to 'prove' how a player got where he is in case of dispute, and to provide a route for backing-off. The button will build the player's route for you by adding a '>' and the location number to the box automatically. Try it out. You can also type in and delete text in this box as normal.

The points tab shows an area with the following information:

The Other Credits area allows you to give the player extra campaign points for successfully defending one of his locations, completing a special mission or whatever. For players like Tyranids and Rebels who never own locations this is the only way to allocate them campaign points. The large box is just a text box where you enter a description of the credit. Use Ctrl+Enter to start a new line. Similarly Other Debits and Other Pts Pen allows you to deduct campaign points and dish out extra points penalties. These are mainly used for Rebels and Tyranids.
This area summarises the points details for the player. All of these boxes are either calculated or looked-up in another part of the database. You will not be able to change any of these values directly. The total campaign points will be the total value of the player's planets, plus any other credits, minus any other debits, minus the cost of defenses, garrisons, all scanners bought, and all probes bought.

This concludes the tour of the Players details. Click to go back to the switchboard.
