How to Play a Game in the Ladder Campaign:

  1. Challenge someone else on the ladder to a game of Blood Bowl. Coaches are organised into a pyramid structure as shown above. You may challenge anyone in the row above you, and can be challenged by anyone in the row below.
  2. The coach you challenged MUST answer within 2 weeks, or forfeit their position to you. However, a coach does not have to play the same opponent twice in a row, although a rematch is allowed if both players agree to it.
  3. Play the game using the new 4th edition rules. Draws are not allowed, so overtime and penalties may be needed.
  4. Make sure the person running the campaign (at the moment it’s Joe) knows the result of your game.
  5. If you beat the person you challenged, you move into their row, and they fall down into yours.

4th Edition Rules

The Blood Bowl ladder will be using the new 4th edition rules published in Blood Bowl Magazine #1. I’ve tried to summarise the main changes below:

  • Players may only use ONE skill per action.
  • Dauntless, Frenzy and Regeneration are now called ‘Traits’ and do count as skills for the purposes of the ‘one skill per action rule’
  • The Specific Injuries Table must be used.
  • Big Guys and Allies may be used, but allied players cannot benefit from team re-rolls.
  • High Elf, Wood Elf, Dark Elf and Dwarf teams receive one Team Re-roll for free when they are created.
  • The ‘I’ve Got My Eye On You’ rule must be used.
  • A player can only gain star player points for inflicting a casualty when involved in a block. Casualties caused in any other ways (including fouls) do not count for star player points.
  • Players who reach 51 or more SPPs start demanding an appearance fee in order to play in a match. 25K for 51-100 SPPs, 50K for 101-150 SPPs, 100K for 151+ SPPs. For these purposes Star Players count as having a number of SPPs equal to their cost divided by a thousand. Appearance fees are paid at the same time as you would hire freebooters.

Joining the Ladder

You can join the ladder at any time, just ask Joe to add you name. You will start off on the bottom row, but with a few good results you could be challenging for the top spot in no time! If you have any questions, or don’t quite understand what’s going on, Joe is the person responsible for running the ladder and will be happy to help you out.
